The\\r president\\u2019s responsibilities are to represent the engineering students\\r in communicating with administration, media, faculty, industry, etc., as\\r well as chairing the weekly meetings of the 8 executives, and overseeing\\r both the <a href=\\\"EUS_Equity\\\">EUS\\r Equity</a> and <a href=\\\"Elections_EUS\\\">Elections EUS</a> Committees. On the business side\\r of the EUS, the president is the general manager and is responsible for\\r legal aspects of the company, such as dealing with contracts and any\\r legal issues that (hopefully won\\u2019t) arise.</p>\\r <h2 id=\\\"duties\\\">Duties</h2>\\r <p><em>According to <a href=\\\"Constitution#TITLE_II:_The_Executive_Committee\\\">Title II</a> of the Constitution</em></p>\\n<p>The President shall:</p>\\r <ol>\\r <li>Be the official spokesperson for the EUS;</li>\\r <li>Oversee matters pertaining to <a href=\\\"equity\\\">equity</a> in the EUS;</li>\\r <li>Be permitted to serve as a non-voting, ex officio member of all <a href=\\\"EUS_Groups\\\">EUS\\r Groups</a>;</li>\\r <li>Coordinate meetings with <a href=\\\"Departmental_Society\\\">Departmental Society</a>\\r Presidents no less than three times per semester during the academic\\r year;</li>\\r <li>Call and chair <a href=\\\"Executive_Committee\\\">Executive Committee</a> meetings;</li>\\r <li>Oversee <a href=\\\"Elections_EUS\\\">Elections EUS</a>;</li>\\r <li>Organize the introduction of the incoming Executive Committee and\\r EUS Council.</li>\\r </ol>\\r <h2 id=\\\"committees\\\">Committees</h2>\\r \\r <h3 id=\\\"other_responsibilities\\\">Other Responsibilities</h3>\\r <ul>\\r <li>Attending EUS Council</li>\\r <li>Attending SSMU Presidents' Roundtable</li>\\r <li>Chairing the EUS Presidents' Meeting between all departments</li>\\r <li>Monthly meeting with the MESC Director</li>\\r <li>Monthly meeting with the Engineering UA Director</li>\\r <li>Brown Bag meeting with the Dean of Engineering</li>\\r </ul>\\r <h2 id=\\\"how_to_get_involved\\\">How to Get Involved</h2>\\r <p>One of the main pre-requisites to becoming EUS President is having a\\r solid understanding of the structure and procedures within the EUS.\\r While there are many ways to learn about the EUS, the most common ways\\r to gain experience are by actively participating in:</p>\\r <ul>\\r <li>Committees</li>\\r <li>Clubs</li>\\r <li>Design Teams</li>\\r <li>EUS Services</li>\\r <li>Departmental Student Societies</li>\\r <li>EUS Council</li>\\r <li>Board of Governors</li>\\r </ul>\\r <p>All of these positions have opportunities to take on a leadership\\r role, which is another important characteristic of a President. Chairing\\r a committee, being president of a club, a captain of a design team, a\\r service manager, or a president of a departmental society are all great\\r ways to learn how to effectively manage a group while learning more\\r about the EUS. There is so much to learn about the EUS that it is very\\r rare that you will know everything but the more you can learn the better\\r you will be able to start off as President. EUS Council and the Board of\\r Governors meetings are open and anyone is allowed to attend. Sitting in\\r on a few of these meetings can give a lot of insight to how the EUS\\r operates internally. Common positions to hold before running for\\r President are any of the EUS Executive Portfolios or a year as\\r Departmental President.
