The\\r\\npresident\\u2019s responsibilities are to represent the engineering students\\r\\nin communicating with administration, media, faculty, industry, etc., as\\r\\nwell as chairing the weekly meetings of the 8 executives, and overseeing\\r\\nboth the <a href=\\\"EUS_Equity\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\" title=\\\"EUS Equity\\\">EUS\\r\\nEquity</a> and <a href=\\\"Elections_EUS\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\"\\r\\ntitle=\\\"Elections EUS\\\">Elections EUS</a> Committees. On the business side\\r\\nof the EUS, the president is the general manager and is responsible for\\r\\nlegal aspects of the company, such as dealing with contracts and any\\r\\nlegal issues that (hopefully won\\u2019t) arise.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"duties\\\">Duties</h2>\\r\\n<p><em>According to <a\\r\\nhref=\\\"Constitution#TITLE_II:_The_Executive_Committee\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\"\\r\\ntitle=\\\"Title II\\\">Title II</a> of the Constitution</em><br />\\r\\nThe President shall:</p>\\r\\n<ol>\\r\\n<li>Be the official spokesperson for the EUS;</li>\\r\\n<li>Oversee matters pertaining to <a href=\\\"equity\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\"\\r\\ntitle=\\\"equity\\\">equity</a> in the EUS;</li>\\r\\n<li>Be permitted to serve as a non-voting, ex officio member of all <a\\r\\nhref=\\\"EUS_Groups\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\" title=\\\"EUS Groups\\\">EUS\\r\\nGroups</a>;</li>\\r\\n<li>Coordinate meetings with <a href=\\\"Departmental_Society\\\"\\r\\nclass=\\\"wikilink\\\" title=\\\"Departmental Society\\\">Departmental Society</a>\\r\\nPresidents no less than three times per semester during the academic\\r\\nyear;</li>\\r\\n<li>Call and chair <a href=\\\"Executive_Committee\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\"\\r\\ntitle=\\\"Executive Committee\\\">Executive Committee</a> meetings;</li>\\r\\n<li>Oversee <a href=\\\"Elections_EUS\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\"\\r\\ntitle=\\\"Elections EUS\\\">Elections EUS</a>;</li>\\r\\n<li>Organize the introduction of the incoming Executive Committee and\\r\\nEUS Council.</li>\\r\\n</ol>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"committees\\\">Committees</h2>\\r\\n<p>{{#categorytree:\\r\\nGroups|hideroot|mode=pages|class=alternating-cattree|style=max-width:400px;margin-right:14px}}\\r\\n</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"other_responsibilities\\\">Other Responsibilities</h3>\\r\\n<ul>\\r\\n<li>Attending EUS Council</li>\\r\\n<li>Attending SSMU Presidents' Roundtable</li>\\r\\n<li>Chairing the EUS Presidents' Meeting between all departments</li>\\r\\n<li>Monthly meeting with the MESC Director</li>\\r\\n<li>Monthly meeting with the Engineering UA Director</li>\\r\\n<li>Brown Bag meeting with the Dean of Engineering</li>\\r\\n</ul>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"how_to_get_involved\\\">How to Get Involved</h2>\\r\\n<p>One of the main pre-requisites to becoming EUS President is having a\\r\\nsolid understanding of the structure and procedures within the EUS.\\r\\nWhile there are many ways to learn about the EUS, the most common ways\\r\\nto gain experience are by actively participating in:</p>\\r\\n<ul>\\r\\n<li>Committees</li>\\r\\n<li>Clubs</li>\\r\\n<li>Design Teams</li>\\r\\n<li>EUS Services</li>\\r\\n<li>Departmental Student Societies</li>\\r\\n<li>EUS Council</li>\\r\\n<li>Board of Governors</li>\\r\\n</ul>\\r\\n<p>All of these positions have opportunities to take on a leadership\\r\\nrole, which is another important characteristic of a President. Chairing\\r\\na committee, being president of a club, a captain of a design team, a\\r\\nservice manager, or a president of a departmental society are all great\\r\\nways to learn how to effectively manage a group while learning more\\r\\nabout the EUS. There is so much to learn about the EUS that it is very\\r\\nrare that you will know everything but the more you can learn the better\\r\\nyou will be able to start off as President. EUS Council and the Board of\\r\\nGovernors meetings are open and anyone is allowed to attend. Sitting in\\r\\non a few of these meetings can give a lot of insight to how the EUS\\r\\noperates internally. Common positions to hold before running for\\r\\nPresident are any of the EUS Executive Portfolios or a year as\\r\\nDepartmental President.
