The department\\nchair and MAME Council are in attendance to hear students out!
\\n<h4 id=\\\"becoming_a_genius_tutorials\\\">Becoming a Genius Tutorials
\\n
Not quite, but keep a sharp eye out for MAME x Someone sponsored\\nworkshops and tutorials on machining, software (MATLAB, python,\\nCAD/CAM), arduino, electronics, and much more.
\\n<h4 id=\\\"lab_tours\\\">Lab Tours
\\n
With the help of professors and graduate students, MAME hosts lab\\ntours in order to expose students to the different research projects\\nbeing worked on in our department. These lab tours are very useful to\\nget a glimpse of the research projects available before applications for\\nthe <a href=\\\"https://mame.mcgilleus.ca/Resources.html\\\">SURE program\\nduring the summer!
\\n<h4 id=\\\"cad_madness\\\">CAD Madness
\\n
<a href=\\\"CAD_Madness\\\">CAD\\nMadness is a weekend long design competition organized by MAME. With\\nthe help of a team of 2 or 4 members, students have a given number of\\nhours to complete a design problem presented at the start of the\\nweekend. The design competition concludes with the team presenting their\\nCAD drawings and solution to judges. The top 3 teams have the chance to\\nwin cash prizes, and the competition is open to students from all\\nfaculties !
\\n<h4 id=\\\"integral_bee\\\">Integral Bee
\\n
Ever noticed that Mechanical Engineers are kind of nerds? For\\nwhatever reason, whatever the background, everyone in mech eng has that\\nlittle part of them that thinks it would be fun to force people to\\ncompete against each other to solve math problems in a gladiatorial\\nsetting while everyone else screams and applauds like we're roman\\npeasants. MAME's annual integral bee is an iconic competition.
\\n<h2 id=\\\"professional_events\\\">Professional Events
\\n<h4 id=\\\"mech_madness\\\">MECH Madness
\\n
MAME\\u2019s year kick off to an amazing start thanks to our favourite\\nevent: <a href=\\\"Mech_Madness\\\">Mech Madness. MECH Madness takes\\nplace at a different city in Canada every year and is an annual\\nmulti-day industry tour. It consists of two days of industry tours at\\nvarious companies with the evenings spent sightseeing and interacting\\nwith the city\\u2019s local engineering students. This event gives students\\nthe opportunity to discover the career opportunities a degree in mech\\neng can offer all across Canada while getting know to know their peers\\nat McGill and other universities as well!
\\n
Our latest trip was to visit Kingston, ON! Past years have gone to\\nOttawa, Sherbroke, Quebec City, and more!
\\n<h4 id=\\\"speed_networking\\\">Speed Networking
\\n
Speed Networking is a terrific event for students to talk to company\\nrepresentatives in a more casual yet professional setting. Each table is\\nhosted by an industry rep who talks to about 6-8 students for a certain\\namount of time. When the time is up, the students switch tables to then\\nconverse with the following professional at another table. It is the\\nperfect event to learn about different career paths out there while\\npracticing your communication skills. This event should resume in the\\n2022-2023 academic year.
\\n<h4 id=\\\"coming_soon\\\">Coming Soon
\\n<h4 id=\\\"meet_greet\\\">Meet & Greet
\\n
At the start of every academic year, MAME hosts a meet & greet\\nfor all mechies to meet the new <a href=\\\"#Executive_Committee\\\">council! This is a great\\nopportunity for students to speak to those representing them and also to\\nfind out how to get involved. The meet & greet is also where the\\ndifferent <a href=\\\"#committees\\\">committees do their initial round of\\nrecruiting!
\\n<h4 id=\\\"mech_talks\\\">MECH Talks
\\n
MECH talks is a week-long event with each day constituting of our\\nesteemed professors and some professionals sharing their journey in the\\nfield of mechanical engineering. MECH Talks is a great way to get\\ninsights on the different opportunities a degree in mechanical\\nengineering can lead you to and hear directly from the people who made\\nit! This event should resume in the 2022-2023 academic year.
\\n<h4 id=\\\"industry_dinner\\\">Industry Dinner
\\n
MAME\\u2019s award winning Industry Dinner is a unique opportunity for\\nstudents to engage with company representatives. Students are matched\\nwith industry professionals that they have showed an interest in with\\n6-7 other students. The three-course meal allows students and company\\nrepresentatives to interact in a comfortable social environment.\\nMoreover, each company will have the opportunity to make a presentation\\nabout their organization during the night. The night concludes with a\\ncasual networking session that allows students to interact with\\ncompanies they have not yet had the opportunity to meet. It a great\\nevent to network and learn about different companies interested in\\nhiring future engineers! This event should resume in the 2022-2023\\nacademic year.
\\n<h2 id=\\\"committees\\\">Committees
\\n<h3 id=\\\"social_committee\\\">Social Committee
\\n
The Social Committee is in charge of\\nenriching student and social life through the means of small but\\nrelaxing events. Whether it is scheduled Movie Nights, Pancake\\nBreakfast, Coffee House, Bluesy Brunch (a brunch right before <a href=\\\"Blues_Pub\\\">Blues Pub),\\nall-you-can-eat sushi outings, Exams Snacks Day, Gaming Tournaments,\\nPoutine Crawls, <a href=\\\"Hosting_an_Apartment_Crawl_Stop\\\">Apartment Crawls, <a href=\\\"3Man\\\">3Man and much more, there\\nis a variety of events to choose from!
