Civil Engineering Undergraduate Society

The Civil Engineering Undergraduate Society (CEUS) is a student organization within the Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics. Our purpose is to hold activities and events that promote a sense of community within the Civil Engineering department. The CEUS also works closely with the Engineering Undergraduate Society of McGill. All undergraduate students studying civil engineering automatically become members of the CEUS upon registration.

Activities

The CEUS organizes a wide range of activities for Civil Students! Activities can range from social events, industry tours, academic events, etc.

Civil Colloquium

Colloquium is an annual departmental trip hosted by the CEUS. This multi-day excursion (Thursday to Sunday) with around 40 of your fellow civvies will take you to another city and provide you with amazing memories! The trip lasts 4 days and is comprised of industry tours as well as social events. During the days, students are immersed in their future profession by visiting multiple sites in all four specializations of civil engineering. After a fruitful day of site visits, students enjoy the tourist aspects of the destination and partake in multiple night events that are organized over the weekend, from traditional pub crawls to professional hockey games! Transport, accommodation and some meals are provided!

Social

• Fall and Winter Civil Banquets: Join dozens of your fellow civies for a night to remember! Start at the pre-banquet gatherings hosted by fellow civies of your year to get the night going. Then head to a nice restaurant for a great meal and a great atmosphere. Finally, join the other departments for an amazing after-party in one of the best clubs of Montreal! This is definitely a night you do not want to miss!
• Apartment Crawls: Gather 9 of your friends and hop on an adventure in downtown Montreal! You will be visiting up to 10 different apartments hosted by fellow civies (with a beverage included at most stops as well as some food stops) before heading to an after-party with the other departments!
• Civil Blues Pubs: One of the best Fridays of the year! Come taste a perfect plumber’s pocket with a nice happy hour beverage! Help out by volunteering to get some goodies as well!
• Year Socials: These events are organized by your respective U-Rep and facilitate bonding between Civies in all years! Activities vary from Laser Quest to Ceramic Painting!
• Wings Nights: Join civil at wings night to enjoy 50 cent wings all night! (Free entry with paid food & drink)

Design Teams

Design teams are a huge part of the undergraduate experience. Many civil students join the following clubs here at McGill:

Civil Lounge

The civil lounge is located on the second floor of McDonald Engineering Building (MD291). After entering the front door of McDonald Engineering building, go up to the platform and turn right to the arch doorway. Then you go up the stairs there will be a entrance at halfway between 2nd and 3rd floor. There are signs to guide you. Follow it, come to chill and study.

There are computers, study area, chilling area, some board games, a Nintendo Switch, and your fellow civil classmates.
