- "body": "[{\"type\": \"paragraph\", \"value\": \"<p>The Plumbers Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) is a bunch of involved\\r\\nengineers who raise funds for charity, portray engineering spirit\\r\\nrowdiness, and support our varsity teams. The PPO exemplifies spirit,\\r\\ncommunity, and charity within the EUS, hoping to build a sense of\\r\\nbelonging to all engineers at McGill. On and off campus they are known\\r\\nfor their distinctive attire, a lab coat with a unique name and drawing\\r\\non it.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"mandate\\\">Mandate</h2>\\r\\n<p>The PPO recognizes and strives to uphold 5 pillars of the engineering\\r\\ncommunity, more specifically: leadership, community, charity, spirit,\\r\\nand character. Members strive to embody these pillars, and are well\\r\\nknown for devoting loads of their time and energy to the EUS in all\\r\\nshapes and forms. They are often seen running through the streets of\\r\\nMilton-Park on MERTW, hosting various charity events, and, on occasion,\\r\\ncausing some harmless chaos with a prank or two.</p>\\r\\n<p>The PPO is always looking to give recognition to the members of the\\r\\nEUS who exemplify the 5 pillars. If the above sounds like someone you\\r\\nknow, you can give them a shout out <a\\r\\nhref=\\\"https://forms.gle/dZiYBNgkFoabHGCv5\\\">here</a></p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"history\\\">History</h2>\\r\\n<p>The PPO was founded in the 1950\\u2019s as a spirit group at varsity sport\\r\\ngames. Over the 1970's to 80's pranking started to become a new\\r\\ntrademark of the PPO. Pranks escalated to some very extravagant ones\\r\\nsuch as painting the arts dome orange, stealing the gorilla from the\\r\\nRedpath Museum and replacing all the front covers of the McGill Daily.\\r\\nThe PPO's final and most infamous prank was unbolting all 800 seats in\\r\\nthe Leacock 132 auditorium. This led to 10% of McGill's lectures being\\r\\ncancelled and the <a href=\\\"Engineering_Undergraduate_Society\\\"\\r\\nclass=\\\"wikilink\\\" title=\\\" EUS\\\"> EUS</a> being sent a bill of $1003.95\\r\\n(over $4000 in today's currency). Shortly after the prank the PPO was\\r\\ndisbanded.</p>\\r\\n<p>In the 1980\\u2019s the PPO was reinvigorated with a new mandate of raising\\r\\nboth money for charity and school spirit. Ever since then the PPO has\\r\\nworked to build exciting events to raise spirit and money\\r\\nsimultaneously, a tribute to the rowdy culture of its past.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"current_activities\\\">Current Activities</h2>\\r\\n<figure>\\r\\n<img src=\\\"ppo_charity_stream.jpg\\\"\\r\\ntitle=\\\" right | thumb|The PPO charity stream held during Winter semester 2021 \\\" />\\r\\n<figcaption> right | thumb|The PPO charity stream held during Winter\\r\\nsemester 2021 </figcaption>\\r\\n</figure>\\r\\n<p>The PPO has remained an active group within the EUS, promoting\\r\\nengineering culture at McGill events. From hosting rowdy day, the final\\r\\nBlues Pub of the semester, to loonie lines the PPO has strived to\\r\\nprovide for those less fortunate while engaging in fun and spirited\\r\\nevents. The PPO always encourages those who are not members to\\r\\nparticipate in their events, as everyone is able to help in some\\r\\nway.</p>\\r\\n<p>To get more involved with the PPO check out some of the events that\\r\\nthey do each year, ranging from Loonie Lines, Relay for Life, Golden\\r\\nValentines, Movember, Breakfast Crawls, and Rowdy Day.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"how_to_get_involved_with_the_ppo\\\">How to Get Involved with the\\r\\nPPO</h2>\\r\\n<p>The PPO encourages anybody and everybody to help with the charity\\r\\nevents run throughout the semester.
