An academic report is drafted by your VP academic and\\r\\nsubmitted to both the <a\\r\\nhref=\\\"https://www.mcgill.ca/ece/\\\">department</a> and the <a\\r\\nhref=\\\"VP_Academic\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\" title=\\\"VP Academic of the EUS\\\">VP\\r\\nAcademic of the EUS</a>. The comments noted here often affect how the\\r\\ncurriculum is formed in the future, as well as cause change to class\\r\\norganisation and workloads.</p>\\r\\n<p>In attendance will be your Department Chair and Associate Chairs, as\\r\\nwell as the Undergraduate Program Manager; sometimes professors will sit\\r\\nin on the forum too. It\\u2019s an opportunity for\\r\\nstudent to relax and grab a quick bite! \\ud83c\\udf75</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"student_spaces\\\">Student Spaces</h2>\\r\\n<p>ECSESS tries to provide comfortable spaces for our students in our\\r\\nbuilding Trottier. We are in charge of bookings of 5th floor rooms, our\\r\\nlounge in Trottier 1060 and our hardware design lab Factory!</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"the_lounge\\\">The Lounge</h3>\\r\\n<p><img src=\\\"ECSESS_Lounge.jpg\\\" title=\\\"The ECSESS Lounge\\\" width=\\\"250\\\"\\r\\nalt=\\\"The ECSESS Lounge\\\" /> The ECSESS Lounge is located on the first\\r\\nfloor of the Trottier building (TR 1060). \\ud83d\\udecb It is open Monday to Friday\\r\\nfrom 10am to 4pm. During those times, a member of the ECSESS Council\\r\\nwill be hosting office hours and is available to answer questions, sell\\r\\ntickets for events or stamp posters so that they can be put on the\\r\\nTrottier bulletin boards. We have comfy couches, various video games, a\\r\\nfoosball table, free tea and more! It is a popular hangout place for our\\r\\nstudents to chill between their classes.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"th_floor_study_rooms\\\">5th Floor Study Rooms</h3>\\r\\n<p>Study rooms on the fifth floor in Trottier can be booked by students.\\r\\nRooms 5103, 5014, 5015, 5106, 5107 are available on <a\\r\\nhref=\\\"https://bookings.mcgilleus.ca/?area=2\\\">bookings.mcgilleus.ca</a>,\\r\\naccess with a Google account. As of May 2022 the rooms are no longer\\r\\navailable for booking, but this option may return in the fall. Every\\r\\nroom comes with a conference table and a blackboard. Chalk can be\\r\\nrequested from an ECSESS council member in the Lounge (TR 1060) at\\r\\nanytime between 10am-4pm. \\ud83d\\udd8d Room 5105 is the largest room and room 5103\\r\\nis the smallest.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"the_factory\\\">The Factory</h3>\\r\\n<p><a href=\\\"The_Factory\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\" title=\\\"The Factory\\\">The\\r\\nFactory</a> \\ud83c\\udfed is a hardware design lab run by students, for students in\\r\\nthe department of Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering at\\r\\nMcGill University. The Factory is a dedicated space in room 0080 of the\\r\\nTrottier building for developing personal projects, gaining experience\\r\\nwith the latest hardware, or just brainstorming ideas with fellow\\r\\nstudents. ECSESS hosts the academic forum near the end of the Fall and Winter semesters.\\ud83d\\udc69\\u200d\\ud83c\\udf93</p><p data-block-key=\\\"hn4r1\\\">The academic forum is another way that you can anonymously provide feedback that will be documented and relayed to the professors and academic advisors. An academic report is drafted by your VP academic and submitted to both the <a href=\\\"https://www.mcgill.ca/ece/\\\">department</a> and the <a href=\\\"VP_Academic\\\">VP Academic of the EUS</a>. The comments noted here often affect how the curriculum is formed in the future, as well as cause change to class organisation and workloads.</p><p data-block-key=\\\"ighl4\\\">In attendance will be your Department Chair and Associate Chairs, as well as the Undergraduate Program Manager; sometimes professors will sit in on the forum too. It is an excellent opportunity to network with recruiters and secure internships or full-time jobs at some of your favourite companies.</p><h2 data-block-key=\\\"x8q4z\\\">Technical Events</h2><h3 data-block-key=\\\"a6h9y\\\">Code.Jam()</h3><p data-block-key=\\\"v32fp\\\"><a href=\\\"CodeJam\\\">CodeJam</a> \\ud83d\\udc69\\u200d\\ud83d\\udcbb\\ud83c\\udf6f is a 48-hour team-based programming competition fuelled by great minds and energy drinks. McGill University's ECSESS collaborates with some of Montreal's biggest software companies to make a challenging, real-world application problem for you to solve. Previous workshops have included coding language workshops, mini competitions in collaboration with companies (hardware, consulting, etc) and mock technical interviews. \\ud83d\\udcaa</p><h2 data-block-key=\\\"sg7jq\\\">Destress Events</h2><h3 data-block-key=\\\"f7o1u\\\">Destress with ECSESS</h3><p data-block-key=\\\"ax81l\\\">Every semester just before finals, we host de-stressing activities in our own lounge. Every day, we have various kinds of activities such as therapy dogs, painting, cookie decorating and give free foods like soup, fruits, pastries, sandwiches to our students. It\\u2019s an opportunity for student to relax and grab a quick bite! \\ud83c\\udf75</p><h2 data-block-key=\\\"t9jyj\\\">Student Spaces</h2><p data-block-key=\\\"igvan\\\">ECSESS tries to provide comfortable spaces for our students in our building Trottier. We are in charge of bookings of 5th floor rooms, our lounge in Trottier 1060 and our hardware design lab Factory!</p><h3 data-block-key=\\\"ja4ew\\\">The Lounge</h3><p data-block-key=\\\"sjpi4\\\">The ECSESS Lounge is located on the first floor of the Trottier building (TR 1060). \\ud83d\\udecb It is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm. During those times, a member of the ECSESS Council will be hosting office hours and is available to answer questions, sell tickets for events or stamp posters so that they can be put on the Trottier bulletin boards. We have comfy couches, various video games, a foosball table, free tea and more! It is a popular hangout place for our students to chill between their classes.</p><h3 data-block-key=\\\"matql\\\">5th Floor Study Rooms</h3><p data-block-key=\\\"xn14q\\\">Study rooms on the fifth floor in Trottier can be booked by students. Rooms 5103, 5014, 5015, 5106, 5107 are available on <a href=\\\"https://bookings.mcgilleus.ca/?area=2\\\">bookings.mcgilleus.ca</a>, access with a Google account. As of May 2022 the rooms are no longer available for booking, but this option may return in the fall. Every room comes with a conference table and a blackboard. Chalk can be requested from an ECSESS council member in the Lounge (TR 1060) at anytime between 10am-4pm. \\ud83d\\udd8d Room 5105 is the largest room and room 5103 is the smallest.</p><h3 data-block-key=\\\"sozfy\\\">The Factory</h3><p data-block-key=\\\"qweg3\\\"><a href=\\\"The_Factory\\\">The Factory</a> \\ud83c\\udfed is a hardware design lab run by students, for students in the department of Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering at McGill University. The Factory is a dedicated space in room 0080 of the Trottier building for developing personal projects, gaining experience with the latest hardware, or just brainstorming ideas with fellow students.
