EIA works in partnership with university student teams,\\r\\nprofessional engineers, and local communities to increase access to\\r\\nwater and infrastructure, building their capacity and resilience. This\\r\\nhelps ensure the long-term sustainability of the new systems. EIA\\r\\nconcentrates on improving community health through water and sanitation\\r\\nprograms, hygiene education, agricultural programs, pedestrian bridges,\\r\\nand even playgrounds.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"bridge_program\\\">Bridge Program</h2>\\r\\n<p>The <strong>EIA Bridge Program</strong> focuses exclusively on\\r\\ncable-supported pedestrian bridges. Born and raised as the university\\r\\nprogram of the non-profit organization Bridges to Prosperity, we were\\r\\nacquired by Engineers in Action in September 2018, where we continue\\r\\nworking with isolated communities to create access to essential\\r\\nhealthcare, education, and economic opportunities by building\\r\\nfootbridges over impassable rivers. Since 2006, students from over three\\r\\ndozen universities across the globe have designed and built 85\\r\\nfootbridges alongside rural communities in 11 countries, serving nearly\\r\\n150,000 previously-isolated people. The Bridge Program currently\\r\\noperates field offices in Bolivia and Eswatini.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"mission\\\">Mission</h2>\\r\\n<ul>\\r\\n<li>Provide isolated communities with increased accessibility</li>\\r\\n<li>Design a suspension bridge</li>\\r\\n<li>Fundraise the money necessary to cover all the project expenses</li>\\r\\n<li>Send student on the construction site during the summer</li>\\r\\n<li>Empower our students to become global leaders while connecting\\r\\nunderserved communities</li>\\r\\n</ul>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"membership\\\">Membership</h2>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"teams\\\">Teams</h3>\\r\\n<p><strong><em>Sponsorship team</em></strong><br />\\r\\nSeek for sponsorships with companies in the industry and promote the\\r\\nMcGill Engineers in Action Bridge Program. Develop your social skills by\\r\\ncommunicating with companies in order to get financial or technical\\r\\nsupport from sponsors.</p>\\r\\n<p><strong><em>Fundraising team</em></strong><br />\\r\\nPlan and organize all the Chapter's events, programs and activities such\\r\\nas Bridges & Brews Pub Nights, Trivia Nights and Donut Sales, in\\r\\norder to promote the growth of the chapter and the enrichment of the\\r\\nclub.</p>\\r\\n<p><strong><em>Media Team</em></strong><br />\\r\\nFind efficient ways to promote the club on different social media\\r\\nplatforms, newsletters and by creating posters and promotional material\\r\\nfor any event or occasion.</p>\\r\\n<p><strong><em>Design Team</em></strong><br />\\r\\nDesign, in collaboration with another university and professionals,\\r\\npedestrian footbridges on a site identified and assigned by EIA staff.\\r\\nThe geometrical design as well as all the calculations have to be drawn,\\r\\ncomputed and verified during the year in order to ensure the efficacy\\r\\nand the safety of the footbridge.</p>\\r\\n<p><strong><em>Construction and Safety Team</em></strong><br />\\r\\nProduce a detailed plan for how the bridge will be built, from\\r\\nconstruction schedules to emergency response plans to cost and quantity\\r\\nestimates.
