EWB is a <a href=\\\"club\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\" title=\\\"club\\\">club</a>\\r\\nof the EUS.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"fair_trade\\\">Fair Trade</h2>\\r\\n<p>The Fair Trade team is dedicated to promoting Fair Trade products\\r\\n(coffee, tea, chocolate, sugar, bananas etc.) on McGill\\u2019s campus. Aside\\r\\nfrom selling coffee in the FDA building on Mondays and Fridays, EWB\\u2019s\\r\\nFair Trade team works closely with the McGill Food and Dining Services\\r\\naiming to add Fair Trade options to the different cafes.<br />\\r\\n<a\\r\\nhref=\\\"https://publications.mcgill.ca/reporter/2013/09/mcgill-earns-official-designation-as-a-fair-trade-campus/\\\">McGill\\r\\nwas designated a Fair Trade campus in September, 2013</a></p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"what_is_fair_trade\\\">What is Fair Trade?</h3>\\r\\n<p><a href=\\\"http://wfto.com/fair-trade/definition-fair-trade\\\">Fair\\r\\nTrade</a> is a certification that provides Canadians with a way to know\\r\\nthat international standards have been met- standards relating to the\\r\\nworking conditions &amp; wages that the farmers behind our coffee,\\r\\nchocolate, sugar etc. are living with. Fair Trade products can be more\\r\\nexpensive for the consumer, but you can rest assured that your extra\\r\\nfifty cents is going toward leveling the playing field for the\\r\\nfarmers!</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"membership\\\">Membership</h2>\\r\\n<p>Membership to EWB is open to anyone. Becoming a member of EWB means a\\r\\nnumber of things:</p>\\r\\n<p>:*It means that you support EWB and the work that we are doing in\\r\\ncommunities around the world. Your support is what enables us to\\r\\ncontinue our work.</p>\\r\\n<p>:*It connects you the thousands of other members across Canada who\\r\\nbelieve in our work.</p>\\r\\n<p>:*Through your membership, we are helping build the engineering\\r\\nprofession, offering a unique opportunity to young Canadian engineers to\\r\\nmake a difference in the world.</p>\\r\\n<p>:*Membership also conveys on you certain rights, such as being kept\\r\\nup to date with EWB happenings and the ability to have a say in how EWB\\r\\nis run.</p>\\r\\n<hr />\\r\\n<p>Membership of the McGill chapter of EWB receive certain\\r\\nadvantages:</p>\\r\\n<p>:*You are placed on the EWB-McGill and EWB-Canada mailing lists,</p>\\r\\n<p>:*You have full access and discounts for all chapter events,</p>\\r\\n<p>:*You obtain a discount to attend the annual EWB National Conference\\r\\nheld in January each year</p>\\r\\n<p>:*You are eligible to apply for EWB Overseas internships,</p>\\r\\n<p>:*You may apply to travel overseas with EWB project teams,</p>\\r\\n<p>:*You have voting rights at the chapter and national levels,</p>\\r\\n<p>:*You can definitely feel good that you are supporting a worthy\\r\\ncause!</p>\\r\\n<p>:*Your membership fee is invested in EWB McGill activities in our\\r\\ncommunity.</p>\\r\\n<p>:*<strong>Cost: $20 for students, and $40 for non-students</strong>.\\r\\nMembership is valid for 1 year from the date of membership payment.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"member_learning\\\">Member Learning</h3>\\r\\n<p>EWB\\u2019s first step is to reach out to engineers and make them aware of,\\r\\nexcited about, and more knowledgeable about, development issues.\\r\\nEWB-McGill aims to reach out to our members through our Monthly\\r\\n\\u2018Development Workshops\\u2019. The goals of these workshops is as follows:</p>\\r\\n<p>::*<strong>Promoting global citizenship</strong> \\u2013 having impact from\\r\\nCanada.To develop members into global engineers, who realize first that\\r\\nactivities they undertake here in Canada have a development impact\\r\\noverseas, and second that sustainable solutions should be integrated\\r\\ninto their personal and professional lives. This includes\\r\\nhoning our members\\u2019 approach, commitment, knowledge and skills</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"history\\\">History</h2>\\r\\n<p>The McGill chapter of EWB is one of 35+ student chapters across\\r\\nCanada. Founded in 2001, the chapter pursues various activities on\\r\\ncampus with the goal to challenge the status quo in international\\r\\ndevelopment. One of our recent accomplishments was leading the effort to\\r\\ncertify McGill as the first Fair Trade Campus in Quebec . In addition,\\r\\nevery year as part of the Junior Fellowship program, the chapter sends\\r\\nat least one student overseas to Africa during the summer to assist with\\r\\ndevelopment ventures within the organization.</p>\\r\\n\"}]",
