Members receive a monthly email informing them of upcoming\\r\\nevents and get priority for all EIG events and resources.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"primary_events\\\">Primary Events</h2>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"speaker_series\\\">Speaker Series</h3>\\r\\n<p>EIG organizes several information sessions throughout the academic\\r\\nyear that aim to educate engineering students about the diverse world of\\r\\nfinance. These lunch-and-learn styled lectures usually revolve around\\r\\ntopics such as personal finance, portfolio management, investment\\r\\nbanking, fixed income analysis, and wealth management. These speaker\\r\\nseries host lecturers from both academic (business faculty professors)\\r\\nand corporate (industry expert) backgrounds.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"stock_pitch_competition\\\">Stock Pitch Competition</h3>\\r\\n<p>The Stock Pitch Competition allows students to learn, apply and\\r\\nunderstand the fundamentals of stock valuation, macroeconomic analysis\\r\\nand asset allocation. The competition is an all-day event, starting with\\r\\nkeynote speeches, followed by an hour long workshop on \\u201cHow to Pitch a\\r\\nStock\\u201d. Students are then divided into teams of four and each team is\\r\\ngiven 3 hours to analyze the information provided. After that, each team\\r\\nis required to prepare and deliver a 10 minute presentation with their\\r\\nrecommendation, and respond to a 5 minute Q&A period in front of a\\r\\npanel of judges.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"trading_simulation\\\">Trading Simulation</h3>\\r\\n<p>The EIG stock trading simulation allows engineering students to test\\r\\ntheir instincts in the stock market. Participants create an investopedia\\r\\naccount and are given 100 000 USD and 100 000 CAD in virtual money to\\r\\ntrade on both US and Canadian market.
