The committee was\\r\\nformally founded in 2014. Each subcommittee is made\\r\\nup of SEAM's executive and general members.</p>\\r\\n<dl>\\r\\n<dt>Consulting</dt>\\r\\n<dd>\\r\\nThis subcommittee is responsible for most projects where SEAM can help\\r\\nother organizations and teams to make their operations more sustainable.\\r\\nA few examples of those consulting projects are below. Contact\\r\\n</dd>\\r\\n</dl>\\r\\n<dl>\\r\\n<dt>Networking</dt>\\r\\n<dd>\\r\\nThis subcommittee is responsible for the outreach and increase of SEAM's\\r\\ncontact list. It is very useful for the group to keep expanding on more\\r\\nand newer connections inside and outside of McGill. This subcommittee is\\r\\nalso responsible for finding most professionals in the yearly speed\\r\\nnetworking event.\\r\\n</dd>\\r\\n</dl>\\r\\n<dl>\\r\\n<dt>Sustainability Project Fund (SPF)</dt>\\r\\n<dd>\\r\\nThis subcommittee is responsible for the development of sustainable\\r\\nproject on campus via the SPF. The SPF has an annual budget dedicated to\\r\\nstudent and group initiatives to make a greener McGill. The subcommittee\\r\\nmakes sure the project is viable and complete so that funding is\\r\\npossible and the project can be made.\\r\\n</dd>\\r\\n</dl>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"events\\\">Events</h2>\\r\\n<p>Events help to show McGill\\u2019s future engineers some of the many\\r\\nopportunities in sustainability, as well to introduce them to thinking\\r\\nand designing in a more sustainable way.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"speed_networking\\\">Speed Networking</h3>\\r\\n<p>The Speed Networking event is one of SEAM's largest events of the\\r\\nyear. Professionals working in sustainable fields come to provide\\r\\nindustry insight, as well as give students an opportunity to make\\r\\nconnections and ask questions to people with sustainable careers. The\\r\\nevent happens over dinner and is fully catered, as well as free to all\\r\\nstudents.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"design_team_case_competition\\\">Design Team Case Competition</h3>\\r\\n<p>In Fall 2016, SEAM challenged McGill's Engineering <a\\r\\nhref=\\\"Design_Teams\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\" title=\\\"Design Teams\\\">Design\\r\\nTeams</a> to make a change in their products or processes to improve\\r\\ntheir long-term effects on the planet. SEAM wanted their sustainable\\r\\nsolutions to be implementable, measurable, and specific to an issue with\\r\\nwhich the team members identified. The Fall 2016 winning team was <a\\r\\nhref=\\\"M3DP\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\" title=\\\"M3DP\\\">M3DP</a>. They were awarded\\r\\nprize money to implement their RecycleBot.</p>\\r\\n<p>In Fall 2019, SEAM will have new case competition for McGill's\\r\\nEngineering <a href=\\\"Design_Teams\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\"\\r\\ntitle=\\\"Design Teams\\\">Design Teams</a>. Development of the competition\\r\\nwill go throughout the Winter 2019 semester.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"talksother\\\">Talks/Other</h3>\\r\\n<p>SEAM hosts many other smaller events throughout the year such as\\r\\ntalks with industry representatives, wine and cheese events, info\\r\\nsessions (on sustainable internships, applied student research, etc),\\r\\nroundtable discussions on sustainable innovations, documentary\\r\\nscreenings, social events, and so on.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"projects_consulting\\\">Projects &amp; Consulting</h2>\\r\\n<p>SEAM undertakes independent or partnered projects which directly\\r\\naffect the engineering community. A recent undertaking within SEAM has\\r\\nbeen working with other organizations and teams to make their operations\\r\\nmore sustainable.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"plumbers_plates\\\">Plumbers' Plates</h3>\\r\\n<p>Plumbers' Plates (formerly \\\"The McConnell Plate Club\\\") is run for the\\r\\nbenefit of student groups on the Engineering side of campus, providing\\r\\nplates, cutlery and drinkware for events. The goal is to reduce the\\r\\nwaste created at events and to reduce student groups' costs. You can\\r\\norder plates (for free) for your next event <a\\r\\nhref=\\\"https://forms.gle/5uPgk4LGov4SKR6T6\\\">here</a>.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"blues_pub_cups\\\">Blues Pub Cups</h3>\\r\\n<p>In 2013, SEAM worked with <a href=\\\"Blues_Pub\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\"\\r\\ntitle=\\\"Blues Pub\\\">Blues Pub</a> to implement \\\"The Iron Cup\\\". The cups\\r\\nare provided for a $2 deposit which is returned when the user drops off\\r\\ntheir cup. This initiative saves approximately 25,000 disposable cups\\r\\nbeing used each year, and also saves Blues Pub goers the $1 charge for a\\r\\ndisposable cup.</p>\\r\\n<p>Since 2019, Blues Pub will now have a recycling bin for the plastic\\r\\ncups used during the night.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"plants_in_mcconnell\\\">Plants in McConnell</h3>\\r\\n<p>The plants in the McConnell hallway were brought in by SEAM in 2014\\r\\nas an initiative to brighten up the space and improve the students'\\r\\nmoods.</p>\\r\\n<h3 id=\\\"g_store_fridge\\\">G-Store Fridge</h3>\\r\\n<p>When the <a href=\\\"G-Store\\\" class=\\\"wikilink\\\"\\r\\ntitle=\\\"G-Store\\\">G-Store</a> needed a new fridge, SEAM teamed up with\\r\\nthem and bought a new, highly energy efficient fridge that met all the\\r\\nthe needs of the G-Store while being cost-effective and a more\\r\\nsustainable solution.</p>\\r\\n<h2 id=\\\"resources\\\">Resources</h2>\\r\\n<p>SEAM provides a starting place for engineering students at McGill\\r\\nthat are interested in learning more about sustainability but don't\\r\\nnecessarily know where to start.
