This is the home page for the Broomball 2026 season. All updates for this season will be posted here. Once the season starts, the schedule will be posted here with scores for all teams. The schedule will be updated once a week, on Mondays. Once the season is over, the winning team will be posted here.

See the Broomball Rules page for a detailed overview of the rules.

Schedule

The first game will take place on January 13th, 2026. Games will be scheduled anytime between 5:00pm and 10:00pm on Tuesdays. The last game of the regular season will take place on February 17th.

In the event of circumstances outside the control of EUS Sports, the game(s) will be cancelled. All cancelled games will be rescheduled to Monday, February 23rd. Playoffs are scheduled to take place on Tuesday February 24th, and, if necessary, on Wednesday, February 25th, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm.

Teams can expect to play once a week, for a total of 6 games during the regular season. Teams should consult this page regularly as the schedule will be posted here. EUS Sports reserves the right to change the schedule without prior notice, depending on interest.

Playing Time

As indicated in the Broomball Rules, each game consists of 3 8-minute periods. Each period is separated by a one-minute break.

Divisions

In order to accommodate as many different skills levels as possible, there will be two divisions of play this year. Division preference is indicated in the registration form for both team registration and free agent registration. Those who consider themselves broomball masters are encouraged to register in Division 1, while novices may register in Division 2, though all are welcome to register in division 1 as well. EUS Sports reserves the right to change these divisions without prior notice, depending on interest.

The EUS Broomball league welcomes players from all different skill levels. Every year, dozens of new players join the league with no prior broomball experience.

Playoffs

Teams are granted 2 points for a win, 0 for a loss in regulation time, and 1 for an overtime loss. The top four teams of each division are granted a playoff spot. The team with the most points is paired with the team ranked second, the team ranked third is paired with the team ranked fourth, and so on. Playoff format is subject to change without prior notice depending on interest. No team is guaranteed a playoff spot.

Location

EUS Broomball takes place at the Iron Rink on Lower Field.

Price

This season, the price is set at $150 per team. The team captain is responsible for paying the registration fee and registering their team. Filling out the registration form alone is not sufficient to play. The purchase link will be communicated via email prior to the first game. Signing up as a free agent costs $15 per player. Please note that tickets will be checked prior to admission onto the ice.

Teams and Free Agents

Teams are registered by their team captain. This year, there is no minimum number of players on each team for registration. However, at least five players must be present on gameday. If a team presents itself with less than five players, this will be considered a forfeit and the opposing team will be granted the win. Teams may have a maximum of 15 players. While team captains may indicate a willingness to accept free agents during registration, free agents may be assigned to any team that does not have the maximum allowed number of players on their roster. For this reason, team captains should email sports@mcgilleus.ca with roster changes if necessary. In addition, EUS Sports reserves the right to merge or split teams should the chair deem this necessary.

EUS Sports strives to provide flexibility regarding game scheduling. If a team captain realizes that they will not have five players on gameday, special accommodations can be made. To facilitate this, team captains are encouraged to reach out to sports@mcgilleus.ca as soon as the issue arises.

Registration

Team captains may register their team using the Team Registration Form. Free agents may register using the Free Agent Registration Form. EUS Sports encourages players who do not have a team to register as free agents. Every year, many free agents join the league and are greeted with open arms.
